Could you be our new Chief Executive?

 

Location: Middlesbrough, Tees Valley

Salary: £29,323 - £33,437 (depending on experience) + pension 

Contract: Permanent, Full-time

 

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead an exciting growing Christian led charity, with a current team of 8 employees and up to 50 volunteers with an annual turnover of around £300k. Open Door North East is a charity with a Christian ethos and has been working primarily on Teesside since 2003, to provide a range of services supporting the wellbeing, livelihoods and integration of those seeking sanctuary in the UK.

 

Our mission is to support those seeking sanctuary to move out of poverty and destitution and be empowered to achieve their full potential. 

 

Our core areas of work include:

  • Housing Project - providing rented accommodation for refugees & free accommodation for asylum seekers with NRPF.
  • Asylum Support - including a destitution drop-in where all those with NRPF can register for housing support and receive food parcels, information, advice and signposting to other services. 
  • Refugee Advice - “Move On” project where new refugees receive help with applying for benefits and accessing affordable housing. 
  • Refugee Work Club & Employment Support Project - helping new refugees create a CV and access jobs and training. 
  • Women only drop-in - where refugee and asylum seekers can meet and undertake meaningful activities together as well as receive information, advice and guidance. 
  • Hosting Scheme – placing destitute asylum seekers with local families. 
  • Occasional ESOL English classes and women’s enterprise course, Sew2Work

The Board of Trustees is seeking a new leader to develop Open Door North East as it seeks to fulfil its mission in this next season. We are looking for someone passionate about our work and our values, who can motivate and inspire our excellent team of staff, volunteers and supporters.

 

Role Description:

As CEO you will provide leadership to the charity, working with the Board of Trustees to fulfil its responsibilities in the governance and strategic development of the organisation as well as its long-term sustainability.You will be responsible for the delivery of all operational aspects of Open Door’s services to clients as well as the development and expansion of current activity, and the development of new services that benefit our client group.

Maintaining and upholding the Christian ethos and values of the charity, you will act as an ambassador for Open Door North East and provide a public face for campaigns and build relationships/partnerships with stakeholders in the statutory and voluntary sectors and in media and business.
